A Review on the Stability, Sustainability, Storage and Rejuvenation of Aerobic Granular Sludge for Wastewater Treatment

Aerobic granular sludge (AGS) is a recent innovative technology and considered forthcoming biological process for sustainable wastewater treatment. AGS composed of the dense microbial consortium aerobic, anaerobic, facultative types bacteria. The mechanism formation its stability long-term operation still subject current research. On other hand, makes treatment in cost-effective way. However, order to be applied broader range applications, there are several challenges overcome, such as slow-speed granulation disintegration after granulation. Many factors play role granules. storage granules later use them startup feasible method reducing time maintaining stability. This review focuses on characteristics AGS, under different conditions, comparison methods granules, their recovery rejuvenation. From this review, it evident that additional research required assess effectiveness regenerated prolonged promote commercial applications.
